3rd Sunday in Lent - The
Gift
Can we ever understand what it means to have someone always present and
always loving us?
As much as we, as human beings, want and need this, it seems to be beyond
our comprehension. Only because we are unable to always be there to help,
support, and love
our friends - and they us.
As humans, we can never grasp the always and forever love of our Divine Love. This gift fills
our being at the core of who we are. We are changed forever. We truly experience the Transfiguration ... not by sight ... but by grace. This gift is a blessing beyond human experience.
In Exodus, like the people with Moses, we struggle; although, through
prayer, we persist during our life's journey with God's help, support, and love.
As we live these experiences, there is always an understanding that our Divine
Love is always with us. It is not in a sense of presence, as God's gift to quench our thirst.
In Romans, Paul shares that Christ dies for us that we may live. Christ gifts
us with life itself! This is pure gift!
As John shares the dialogue between the Woman at the Well and Jesus, we see our life's
story unfolding before our eyes. Jesus' intimacy with the Woman comes in an instant and comes from the depth of
an honest loving
relationship. For
us, intimacy with our Lord comes as we, day-by-day year-by-year, continually love
our Lord and others.
Our Lord knows us as we are and brings us to drink of the living waters. The gift of living is to give - our gift to be all we can be; to do Christ's work today, by gifting others with loving, living waters.
