4th Sunday in Lent - The Light

As night goes to day, there is a time of dawn. The dawn that brings us from darkness to light.

It is a transition period from which we are graced by God's life.

It is the cutting edge of movement within our being.

It is the passion from one way of being to another. It is living as human ... alone ... to living in loving covenant with our Lord.

In Samuel, we are told that God does not look at my appearance, but rather, the Lord looks into our hearts. God looks into the darkness of our appearances ... our fears, assumptions, and projections ... and graces us through the dawn to living with Him in the light.

In Ephesians, Paul asks us to live in the light.

We do this every time we embrace the pain and suffering that are our very weaknesses.

We do this every time we embrace the silence of our heart and live with our Lord.

We do this every time we embrace the love that is only mine because Jesus loves us.

As inheritances from Adam and Eve, we accept that we can not do anything alone. With Christ's covenant we are in the dawning of a new way of being. Living in this new loving relationship with my Lord, we are forming a healing inheritance for generations to come. It is a lighter dawn and a brighter day as this happens!

In John, the blind man moves from the start of dawn when he is cured of physical blindness. The man moves through dawn as he transforms his life from beggar to a person with sight. The daylight of this man's life comes when he sees the Lord and believes.

On the other hand, the Pharisees, as a group, really struggle to see the truth. It seems that they come to dawn; although, they return to night, and not to day. To be in the day as a person of light, we are to freely choose God's gift of:

Invitational grace by struggling through the dark nights of our soul.

Initiation grace by living in God's ways to the dawn of new life.

Living grace by being a person of light and living in the day as we receive God's gift of blessings into the very core of our being to share with others.

We can now be with and for others in God's light as God chooses.
