Today's Story

Is this Gospel story written 2000 years ago for the people who lived in the time of Jesus without meaning for us today?  Today, are situations changed?

Does not seem so, as siblings are still in disagreement.  Yes, if we look at the World as one Global Community are we all siblings of our one world.  Seems as siblings, since Cane and Able in the beginning to Martha and Mary in the time of Jesus until today, there are so many differences between us without compassion, understanding, and love.  We are still trying to find unity in our differences.  We are still trying to balance all the many aspects of our lives as we are Martha and Mary.

Like Martha, we have much to be anxious about with the attacks in England, Scotland, Spain, Italy, Philippians, and the USA; with the war in the Middle East; the unrest in parts of the rest of our world.  With the world epidemics of illness like Cancer and AIDS; abortion of the yet to be born infants; and killing each other in civil war and mercy killing.  There surely are many things to be worried about today.

Like Mary, we will come to peace, the peace that Our Lord has to give, when we sit with Jesus in prayer and love; when we give Jesus our worries; when we share our sufferings with the sufferings of Jesus on Calvary; when we died to what is not bringing our world peace and compassion; and when we do love our siblings as Jesus loves them with all their differences.

Like Jesus, we come to renewal, strength, and love when we come to Jesus and give Jesus all that we are and all that we have with every anxiety and worry that holds us from him.  Jesus wants to and is uniting us in our differences - for us to truly choose the better part! continues...

Reflections for Meditation

Can I give Jesus our fears and worries?

Can I come to peace with all our brothers and sisters with all their differences?

Can I choose the better part - today?
